Sanquhar E.U. Congregational Church has had a presence in Sanquhar for over 150 years, sharing & celebrating the love of the the Lord Jesus Christ with the local community.

Like most churches we have seen a great fall in numbers attending from the days when almost everyone went to one church or another in the town. This has not made us downhearted & in fact it demonstrates an even greater need for an effective church. So nowadays we are a small fellowship, who’s door is open to all & where we seek to let folk know that God accepts anyone who puts their trust in Him, just as they are. We love God not to get Him to love us, but because we know he loved us first - confident that the Holy Spirit will work through us.

We are affiliated to the Congregational Federation & to the Congregational Federation in Scotland. For anyone not familiar with Congregationalism, it means that each church is an independent entity. It runs as the membership of its own church decides – a model of democracy in fact!
We enjoy being involved in local projects and events as we feel a church should be outward looking and be part of the community. The church is situated on Deerpark Avenue just 70yds from the A76 – in the heart of the community.

The majority of the membership is of the older generation as in so many churches, but happily we do have children attending the J.A.M. Club (Jesus And Me) – we’re always hoping they’ll bring their parents/guardians along.   We also have a Congregational Federation Youth Rep (CF-Xtra) in our fellowship & he is keen to attract more young people to the church of 10yrs & older.
We would dearly love to see our church fuller on Sundays with people seeking the Lord. If you decide to join us for worship you will be assured of a warm welcome.

Come on in and meet us.
